Group Booking


Over the years hundreds of groups and thousands of school children have enjoyed a visit to Farming World and many return to us year after year. Our aim is to offer our visitors a fun, safe interesting and trouble free day out whilst giving the children of all ages the opportunity to learn more about farming, the food they eat and the changes in farming today.

Key highlights of your visit include...

Free Guided Mystery Tour
All groups can book a Free Guided Discovery Tour with one of our experienced members of staff - a great way to start your visit! Guided Tours last about an hour and are adapted to suit all ages, interests and abilities - a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the farm, its animals and crops.

Daily Animal Encounters
A great opportunity to meet and learn more about the many animals and birds that live on the farm.

Hawklands Bird Of Prey Centre
Visitors will be kept spellbound by Sharon's birds and their varied flying displays. Children often get the opportunity to help with the daily flying displays and stroke some of the friendly hawks and owls. An in-depth talk and "hands on" interactive demonstration can be booked as an optional extra. Please note there are no flying displays on Mondays.

Let Off Steam
We believe that learning and having fun are the essential elements of any school visit and Farming World offers the best combination of both! We have a huge range of venture play equipment including our impressive "Big Pig Pen" a challenging and exciting hillside venture play zone, including our new wheelchair swing and rumble bridge which can be enjoyed by those with special needs. Don't worry if the weather is poor there is always room to play in the "Piglets" soft play area.

Animals & Birds Galore
Farming World is home to hundreds of different species of animals and birds and our extensive breeding programme means that there are often baby piglets, lambs, kids and chicks to be seen.

Explore The Farm & Museum
Your group will love the chance to explore the farm and visit the rural museum and lawnmower collection (the largest in the South east), which will give them a unique insight into a bygone rural age.

Our Gentle Giants
Meet our magnificent heavy horses who from time to time give displays and wagon rides around the farm. Rides can be pre-booked as an optional extra.

Bee World - Summer Only
Visit our Bee Exhibition Room where you can learn more about these fascinating insects, peer through the window of the display hive into their chaotic world and even book a talk with our beekeeper (see optional extras).

The Secret Garden
Step through the doorway into our Secret Garden with it's hidden creatures, mysterious footprints, animal tracks, sounds and sensory plants.

A variety of popular optional extras are available at a small extra charge - pre-booking is essential.

Bird Of Prey Encounters - £50 per group
(max group size 35 people, max 4 groups per day)

A "hands on" private encounter and demonstration session just for your group. The 30 minute session gives you the opportunity to learn about the personalities and habitats of our magnificent birds of prey. Talks can be tailored to suit your specific curriculum requirements.

Bee Talk & Demonstration - £50 per group
(max group size 35 people, max 3 groups per day)

Discover the complex and hidden world of these fascinating creatures - demonstrations and talks from our bee keeper plus a chance to watch the bees at work through the windows of the demonstration hive.

Tractor & Trailer Ride - 80p per person (max 35 per trailer)
Watch the changing seasons of the farming world from the back of a tractor and trailer.

Horse & Cart Ride - £1 per person (max 10 per ride)
Experience a ride on a cart pulled by one of our magnificent heavy horses (weather permitting).

Mini Golf - 50p per person (minimum booking £25)
Challenge your group to a round of 9 hole mini golf, or a school tournament. A fun way to spend a hour or so!

Goodie Bags - £2 and £3 each
Let us make goodie bags for stress free shopping. Suggested items include: notepads, pencils, biros, erasers, sharpeners, beakers and model farm animals.

Teacher Packs - £4 each
Teaching resources for primary and secondary school children.

What About The Weather?
We have excellent provision for rainy days with the use of our covered areas, barns and marquees. Each group has an allocated area as their base for the day. The main farm has tarmac paths for younger children there is also an indoor soft play area if the weather is cold and wet! - Bring wellies if it's wet.

Male ducks (called drakes) are usually the brightly colored while the females (called ducks) are usually dull and brown in color


A duck's feet cannot feel cold even if it swims in icy cold water. The reason for this is due to a heat exchange system in their legs


Duck have water-proof feathers. There is a special gland that produces oil near the duck's tail which spreads and covers the outer coat of the duck's feathers
